Creating a publication

Background

The procedure in this topic assumes Skribenta is installed and configured for normal operation, and:

You want to create a publication so you can publish content together with a configuration file.

It is possible to create a publication:

  • based on an existing content file and configuration file.

  • based on an existing content file or configuration file.

  • and the corresponding content and configuration file at the same time.

  • based on an existing publication,

Procedure

Creating a publication based on an existing content file and configuration file

1. Make sure that the step(s) in section "Starting point" (see section "Background" above) are performed.

2. Create a content file and a configuration file in the workspace.

The Publications view opens.

It is also possible to create a publication directly in the Publications top folder.

A pop-up list opens.

The Publication group toolbar opens.

The Publication tab opens.

  • Type a publication name in the Name box.

  • Click the Browse button to the right of the Master box to browse for a content file.

    • Click the option button to select the content file.

  • Click the Browse button to the right of the Recipe box to browse for a configuration file.

    • Click the option button to select the configuration file.

The publication is created.

1. Make sure that the step(s) in section "Starting point" (see section "Background" above) are performed.

2. Create a content file or a configuration file in the workspace.

The Publications view opens.

It is also possible to create a publication directly in the Publications top folder.

A pop-up list opens.

The Publication group toolbar opens.

The Publication tab opens.

  • Type a publication name in the Name box.

  • Click the Browse button to the right of the Master box or Recipe box to browse for a content file or a configuration file, respectively.

    • Click the option button to select the content or configuration file.

      In this example, a content file is selected.

The publication is created.

A configuration file, which was not specified in the previous steps, is created in the same folder as the existing content file. The configuration file name is the same as the publication name.

It is also possible to create a publication directly in the Publications top folder.

The Publication group toolbar opens.

The Publication tab opens.

The publication is created.

The parameter Skribenta.Publication.FileFolder must be set to define a reference folder available in the workspace.

A content file and a configuration file are created in a subfolder structure, following the publication group structure, in the reference folder defined by the parameter Skribenta.Publication.FileFolder. The content and configuration file names are the same as the publication name. An empty Images folder and Modules folder are also created.

1. Make sure that the step(s) in section "Starting point" (see section "Background" above) are performed.

The Publications view opens.

3. In the Publications view, browse to the publication that you want to base your new publication on.

A pop-up list opens.

The Publication toolbar opens.

The Based on this tab opens.

The publication is created.

The new publication (Publication C) uses the same content file as Publication B, but a new configuration file. The configuration file name is the same as the publication name. The new configuration file is created in the same folder as the configuration file for Publication B.
