Hiding and unhiding block content

Background

Starting point

The procedure in this topic assumes Skribenta is installed and configured for normal operation, and:

You have logged into Skribenta.
You are assigned to one of the following user roles: content provider, technical writer or administrator.
You have selected the workspace you want to work in.
A content file or a configuration file is created in the workspace.
You have browsed to and opened the file in the Workspace view or the Publications view.
The file has an XML element that can contain text, such as a paragraph, a title, or a table caption.

Your need

You need to prevent some block content, such as paragraphs and sections, from being published.

The possibility

It is possible to hide block content, such as complete paragraphs and sections, from appearing in the published publication. Hiding content is useful in cases you need to publish a draft version, and you do not want to show certain content. You can select multiple block elements and hide them.

Procedure

1. Make sure that the step(s) in section "Starting point" (see section "Background" above) are performed.

2. In your file content, right-click a block element that you want to hide, for example a paragraph or section element.

3. In the pop-up list, select the section icon.

The section toolbar opens.

4. On the section toolbar, click Hide.

The section is marked as hidden (gray background color).

The attribute hidden with the value hidden has been added to the element.

5. To unhide the hidden section, repeat the steps above.

Alternative procedure: Hiding and unhiding block content using a keyboard shortcut

1. Make sure that the step(s) in section "Starting point" (see section "Background" above) are performed.

2. In your file content, put the caret before the start tag of the block element that you want to hide, for example a section element.

3. Press Ctrl+H.

The section is marked as hidden (gray background color).

The attribute hidden with the value hidden has been added to the element.

4. To unhide the section, repeat the steps above.
