Starting point

The procedure in this topic assumes Skribenta is installed and configured for normal operation, and:

You have logged into Skribenta.
You are assigned to one of the following user roles: content provider, technical writer or administrator.
You have selected the workspace you want to work in.
A content file or a configuration file is created in the workspace.
You have browsed to and opened the file in the Workspace view or the Publications view.

Your need

You need to include the expansion of an element in another file in your content or configuration file. The expansion of an element is the element content except an eventual title.

Open the file, then create an include to the expansion of an element in another file using the top toolbar.

Procedure

1. Make sure that the step(s) in section "Starting point" (see section "Background" above) are performed.

2. In your file content, put the caret where you want to include the expansion of a topic element.

3. On the top toolbar, click Block > Include.

The Href tab on a toolbar opens.

4. Click Browse.

A folder and file structure is displayed.

5. To browse higher in the folder and file structure, click the button.

6. Click to select the file containing the element that you want to include.

The resource ID and name of the selected file are displayed in the File box.

An alternative to get the desired file's resource ID, is to copy the file or an include element to the file, in the Workspace or Publications view, and then paste it into the File box.

7. Click Target id.

All available element IDs in the target file are displayed.

It is possible to click the available element IDs to expand and preview the element content.

8. Click to select the ID of the element which expansion shall be included.

The selected element ID is shown in the Id box.

9. Click the Include as arrow and select Expansion only from the list.

10. In the Display label box, type a text that shall be used as display label for the include element. Otherwise, the resource ID and name of the selected file will be used as display label.

11. Click Apply.

An include element is created. The text "expansion only" is added to the display label.

12. To verify that the include element is including only the expansion of the target element, double-click the include element to expand it.

Note that only the target element content, except its eventual title, is included. The target element itself is not included.
