Reverting to a previous draft version of a file

Background

Starting point

The procedure in this topic assumes Skribenta is installed and configured for normal operation, and:

You have logged into Skribenta.
You are assigned to one of the following user roles: content provider, technical writer or administrator.
You have selected the workspace you want to work in.
A content file or a configuration file is created in the workspace.
You have edited the file (and draft versions has been created).

Your need

You want to revert to a previous saved draft version of a checked out file.

The possibility

Every time a file is saved, a draft version of the file is stored in Skribenta. Normally, the draft versions are stored for a month. It is possible to revert to a previously saved draft version.

Browse to the file, then revert to a draft version of the file.

Procedure

1. Make sure that the step(s) in section "Starting point" (see section "Background" above) are performed.

2. Browse to your file in the Workspace view or the Publications view.

In the Publications view, you can only browse to a content or configuration file that is connected to a publication.

3. Right-click the file.

A pop-up list opens.

4. In the pop-up list, select file icon.

The File toolbar opens.

5. On the File toolbar, click Versions > Compare.

A list of file versions is displayed.

6. In the list of file versions, select Draft versions.

The individual file draft versions are shown.

7. To examine the content of a file draft version, select it from the list. New and deleted content, compared to the previous version, are highlighted in green and red, respectively.

8. To revert to a previous draft version, click the corresponding Revert button.

A Confirm dialog box opens.

9. Click OK to confirm.

The file content is reverted to the selected draft version.

A text highlighted in gray is added to the frontmatter part of the file with information about the revert operation.
