Changing the version label on a file or folder version

Background

Starting point

The procedure in this topic assumes Skribenta is installed and configured for normal operation, and:

You have logged into Skribenta.
You are assigned to one of the following user roles: content provider, technical writer or administrator.
You have selected the workspace you want to work in.
A content file or a configuration file is created in the workspace.

Or
An image file is created (by uploading or dragging-and-dropping it) in the workspace.

Or
A folder is created in the workspace.

Your need

You want to change the version label on a file version.

The possibility

The file version label, which is for example displayed when viewing the file version tree, can be changed.

Overall steps

Browse to the file, then change the version label text on the file.

Time

Less than 1 minute

1. Make sure that the step(s) in section "Starting point" (see section "Background" above) are performed.

2. Browse to your file or folder (resource) in the Workspace view or the Publications view.

In the Publications view, you can only browse to a content or configuration file that is connected to a publication.

3. Right-click the resource.

A pop-up list opens.

4. In the pop-up list, select the resource icon.

The File or Folder toolbar opens.

5. On the File or Folder toolbar, click Props > History.

The History tab opens.

6. On the History tab, edit the text in the Label box.

7. Click Apply.

The version label text is updated.

A checked in file or folder is not checked out when changing the version label.

You can only change label on the current set version.

8. To verify the update, click the file or folder version designation (shown to the left of the folder or file name).

The updated version label text is displayed in the version history tree.
