Viewing the version designation of a folder or file

Starting point

The procedure in this topic assumes Skribenta is installed and configured for normal operation, and:

You have logged into Skribenta.
You are assigned to one of the following user roles: content provider, technical writer or administrator.
You have selected the workspace you want to work in.
A content file or a configuration file is created in the workspace.
An image file is created (by uploading or dragging-and-dropping it) in the workspace.
A folder is created in the workspace.

Your need

You want to see the version designation of a folder or file (resource). A resource can have several versions, if the resource has been checked in and checked out several times.

Overall steps

Show folder and file versions by pressing Ctrl+Alt+V or by selecting View > Versions on the top toolbar. Browse to a folder or file (resource). The version designation is shown to the left of the resource name.

Procedure

1. Make sure that the step(s) in section "Starting point" (see section "Background" above) are performed.

2. Make sure that folder and file versions are shown:

Press Ctrl+Alt+V,

or
Select View > Versions on the top toolbar.

3. If you want to view the version designation of:

a folder, browse to the folder in the Workspace view.
a file, browse to the file in the Workspace view or the Publications view.

In the Publications view, you can only browse to a content or configuration file that is connected to a publication.

4. The version designation is shown to the left of the folder or file name.

Alternative procedure: Viewing the version designation of a folder or file on the Properties tab in the Tools frame

1. Make sure that the step(s) in section "Starting point" (see section "Background" above) are performed.

2. If you want to view the version designation of:

a folder, browse to the folder in the Workspace view.
a file, browse to the file in the Workspace view or the Publications view.

In the Publications view, you can only browse to a content or configuration file that is connected to a publication.

3. Select the folder or file (resource).

4. Click Tools.

The Tools frame opens.

5. In the Tools frame, click the Properties tab.

The version designation of the selected resource is displayed in the Version box on the Properties tab.

Alternative procedure: Viewing the version designation of a folder or file on the General tab

1. Make sure that the step(s) in section "Starting point" (see section "Background" above) are performed.

2. If you want to view the version designation of:

a folder, browse to the folder in the Workspace view.
a file, browse to the file in the Workspace view or the Publications view.

In the Publications view, you can only browse to a content or configuration file that is connected to a publication.

3. Right-click the folder or file (resource).

A pop-up list opens.

4. In the pop-up list, select the resource icon.

The File or Folder toolbar opens.

5. On the File or Folder toolbar, click Props > General.

The General tab opens.

The version designation of the selected resource is displayed next to Version.
