Viewing the version index of a folder or file

Background

Starting point

The procedure in this topic assumes Skribenta is installed and configured for normal operation, and:

You have logged into Skribenta.
You are assigned to one of the following user roles: content provider, technical writer or administrator.
You have selected the workspace you want to work in.
A content file or a configuration file is created in the workspace.
An image file is created (by uploading or dragging-and-dropping it) in the workspace.
A folder is created in the workspace.

Your need

You want to see the version index of a folder or file (resource). The version index is the unique identifier of the resource version.

Browse to a folder or file (resource) and select it, then open the Tools frame and view the resource's version index in the Properties tab.

1. Make sure that the step(s) in section "Starting point" (see section "Background" above) are performed.

2. If you want to view the version index of:

a folder, browse to the folder in the Workspace view.
a file, browse to the file in the Workspace view or the Publications view.

In the Publications view, you can only browse to a content or configuration file that is connected to a publication.

3. Right-click the folder or file (resource).

A pop-up list opens.

4. In the pop-up list, select the resource icon.

The File or Folder toolbar opens.

5. On the File or Folder toolbar, click Props > General.

The General tab opens.

The version index of the selected resource is displayed next to Index.

Alternative procedure: Viewing the version index of a folder or file on the Properties tab in the Tools frame

1. Make sure that the step(s) in section "Starting point" (see section "Background" above) are performed.

2. If you want to view the version index of:

a folder, browse to the folder in the Workspace view.
a file, browse to the file in the Workspace view or the Publications view.

In the Publications view, you can only browse to a content or configuration file that is connected to a publication.

3. Select the folder or file (resource).

4. Click Tools.

The Tools frame opens.

5. In the Tools frame, click the Properties tab.

The version index of the selected resource is displayed in the Index box on the Properties tab.

1. Make sure that the step(s) in section "Starting point" (see section "Background" above) are performed.

2. Click Tools.

The Tools frame opens.

3. In the Tools frame, click the Tools tab.

The Tools tab opens.

4. If you want to view the version index of:

a folder, browse to the folder in the Workspace view.
a file, browse to the file in the Workspace view or the Publications view.

In the Publications view, you can only browse to a content or configuration file that is connected to a publication.

5. Press Ctrl and select the folder or file (resource), or move the pointer over it.

The version index of the selected resource is displayed at the bottom part of the Tools tab.
