Getting the comparison in published output

Background

Starting point

The procedure in this topic assumes Skribenta is installed and configured for normal operation, and:

You have logged into Skribenta.
You are assigned to one of the following user roles: content provider, technical writer or administrator.
You have selected the workspace you want to work in.
A folder is created in the workspace.
The publication or the workspace has been checked in to create a version to compare.

Your need

You want to publish a comparison of the content of two publication editions.

The possibility

It is possible to publish a comparison of the content of two publication editions. The comparison can be detailed or not detailed.

Overall steps

Right-click the publication, select editions to compare and then publish.

Time

Less than 1 minute

1. Make sure that the step(s) in section "Starting point" (see section "Background" above) are performed.

2. Browse to your publication in the Publication view.

3. Right-click the publication.

A pop-up list opens.

4. In the pop-up list, select the publication icon.

The Publication toolbar opens.

5. On the Publication toolbar, click Publish.

The View tab opens on the Publish tab.

6. On the Publish tab, click Edition.

A list of editions are displayed.

The listed editions can be workspace or checked in publication (CIP) editions.

7. Click to select the edition to publish.

8. On the Publish tab, click Compare.

The Compare tab opens.

9. On the Compare tab:

1. Select Compare.

2. Click Edition.

A list of editions is displayed.

The listed editions can be workspace or checked in publication (CIP) editions.

3. Click to select the edition to compare with.

4. Click Not detailed/Detailed to switch between detailed differences or not.

10. Select publishing language and stylesheet, for more details see Publishing a publication.

11. On the Publish tab, click Start to publish.

12. On the Publish tab, click View and then click to view the output.

Changed content, compared to the previous edition, is highlighted in yellow.	New and deleted content, compared to the previous edition, are highlighted in green and red, respectively.
